Reflecting on 2024: Setting Intentions for a Purposeful 2025
Happy almost new year! This is the time of year when many of us start thinking about the following year. “New Year, New Me!” Maybe you started taking GLP-1 medication this year and are feeling energized by your results to jump into new goals! For others, setting goals right now may feel overwhelming or fruitless - especially if you’ve set a new year resolution in the past and “failed” within the first few weeks. (Spoiler: You didn’t fail, it just wasn’t the right goal!)
This year, we encourage you to look back before you look ahead. Take a moment to reflect on 2024 and all the good, bad, ugly, and beautiful that came with it. By taking time to reflect, you better understand where your motivation, priorities, and energy have been and how that makes you feel. From there, you can build on setting the right intentions and goals for 2025. Below are a few questions to guide your reflection process. Feel free to journal your answers!
2024 Reflection questions:
What was the best part of 2024
What are the highlights from this past year?
What are the lowlights or the most significant challenges from the last year?
How did I grow this year?
What didn’t go as planned? Why?
How did my health change this year?
What worked or didn’t work about your GLP-1 medication?
Who has helped me? How have I helped others?
Once you’ve taken time to reflect, look ahead! While setting a goal or resolution is okay, you should also focus on how you want to feel in 2025. Deciding on a broader intention before setting more practical goals may be helpful.
Intentions are expansive visions of success that reflect our commitment and emotional connection to living in alignment with our values and goals. They are open-ended and guide us in multiple areas of life. They are a motivator and inner accountability source, empowering us to focus on what truly matters. Your intention may be to be kinder to yourself or to focus on being present more often. Use the questions below to help shape your intention for the new year.
Look ahead to 2025:
What do I want to stay the same/maintain in 2025?
What do I want to change in 2025?
What emotion do I want to feel more often?
What do I want my health to look like this year?
What support do I need to reach my goals?
What affirmations can I tell myself when I’m in the throes of making a change? (here are a few ideas)
I can do hard things!
It’s not a bad day, just a bad moment.
I am strong and capable!
I have all I need within me.
What do I want to be able to say when I look back on 2025?
As we close out 2024 and step into the new year, remember that growth isn’t always about grand resolutions or perfect goals—it’s about progress, learning, and alignment with what truly matters to you. Take time to reflect, set intentions, and embrace the journey ahead with kindness and patience. Whether you focus on maintaining the things that bring you joy or strive to create positive change, trust that every small step adds up to meaningful transformation. If you are taking a GLP-1 medication or are considering it for the new year, we’d love to be a part of your journey.
Here's to a year of intentional living, growth, and staying true to yourself. Happy New Year, and may 2025 be full of possibility and fulfillment!
